FAQ
Physiotherapy is generally not covered by OHIP for most patients. There are a limited number of OHIP-funded clinics in Ontario, but access is restricted and wait times can be long. These clinics typically do not have physiotherapists with advanced training to examine and treat TMJ disorders effectively.
Yes — many extended health insurance plans include physiotherapy coverage.
Coverage varies depending on your plan and may include:
-
A set annual amount
-
A per-visit maximum
-
A co-pay or percentage coverage
We recommend checking your plan details prior to your appointment, so you know what to expect.
-
We are able to direct bill some insurance providers, depending on your plan.
However, not all plans allow direct billing. In those cases, you will pay at the time of your visit and submit your receipt for reimbursement.
Our front desk is happy to help check this with you in advance.
If your insurance only covers part of the visit, you will be responsible for the remaining balance (co-pay).
This amount is due at the time of your appointment.
You can contact your insurance provider directly or check your online benefits portal.
Helpful questions to ask:

-
Do I have physiotherapy coverage?
-
Is there a per-session or annual limit?
-
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
-
Do I have a deductible or co-pay?
-
Most physiotherapy visits do not require a referral.
However, some insurance plans may require one for reimbursement.
