TMJ Care & Physiotherapy Services in Toronto
Comprehensive TMJ & Jaw Evaluation
Your initial evaluation includes a highly detailed assessment and your first TMJ treatment. Afterward, we typically meet 1–2 times a week for 3–4 weeks. Bonus: Tailored, app-based home program to support you.
Manual Therapy for Head, Neck & Jaw
Hands-on manual therapy to restore movement, reduce tissue restrictions, and ease pain. We also teach self-massage techniques to help you maintain progress between visits.
Ergonomic Assessment
If your pain worsens at work, we’ll assess your workstation setup. Our ergonomic assessments in Toronto often reveal root-cause issues contributing to chronic jaw or neck pain.
Trigger Point Dry Needling
We offer dry needling therapy as a powerful yet conservative way to treat myofascial trigger points. It resets the system—your home program then helps install the long-term changes.
Meet Your Physiotherapist
Brett Weiss, DPT, CEAS, CIDN, CCTT
Physiotherapist & Founder
Brett Weiss is the owner of Headway Physio in Toronto, a practice focused in the evaluation and treatment of TMJ disorders, headaches, and neck pain. As a Certified Cervical and Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT), Brett delivers skilled, hands-on physiotherapy to restore movement, relieve pain, and improve daily function.
With over a decade of ergonomic experience, Brett is also an ergonomic assessment specialist and the founder of ErgoSesh, where he has conducted more than 1,000 virtual ergonomic assessments. For clients whose pain is linked to their work setup, Brett integrates an ergonomic evaluation after the initial physiotherapy assessment to identify and address any contributing workspace factors. This holistic approach helps ensure clients get the most out of their treatment and maintain progress long term.
His care is rooted in education — helping clients understand what’s happening in their body, how to overcome it, and how to prevent it from recurring. Brett believes physiotherapy should be a pit stop, not a permanent destination. His goal is to empower clients with the tools and knowledge they need to move forward — pain-free, independent, and informed.

Brett is one of only 10 Board-Certified Cervical & Temporomandibular Therapists (CCTTs) in Canada, credentialed by the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial & Cervical Therapeutics (PTBCCT). This advanced certification reflects his focused expertise in TMJ physiotherapy and orofacial pain.
He holds a Certificate in Integrated Dry Needling and has extensive training in manual therapy, allowing him to draw from a wide range of evidence-based techniques to deliver highly customized care. Brett is a member of the PTBCCT, an affiliate member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, and an active member of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. He also mentors physiotherapy students and new graduates from the University of Toronto.
Brett is frequently invited to speak on TMJ disorders, orofacial physiotherapy, jaw pain relief, and ergonomics at dental conferences and academic institutions across Canada and the U.S. He works closely with dental professionals to create integrated, cross-disciplinary care plans that enhance patient outcomes.

Why Choose a TMJ Physiotherapist Near You
A Certified Cervical & Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT) has extensive knowledge and advanced training in the craniomandibular region. Within the field of physiotherapy, there remains a significant gap when it comes to treating orofacial and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain or dysfunction syndromes. When you choose a physiotherapist with this focus, you're selecting from a very small group of providers with highly specialized training in TMJ physiotherapy and jaw pain relief.
CCTTs complete over 100 hours of post-graduate training in the areas of cervical spine dysfunction, headaches, and TMJ disorders. They must also have a minimum of three years of clinical experience and pass a rigorous certification exam governed by The Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial & Cervical Therapeutics. Currently, there are 10 CCTTs in all of Canada—making them an elite group of TMJ-focused providers

Benefits of Manual Therapy for TMJ
Manual therapy serves as a crucial means of healing by opening a window to relief and recovery. The physical demands of daily life—especially poor posture, muscle tension, or stress—often press down on this window, attempting to close it and hinder progress. Through targeted manual therapy for the head, neck, and jaw we work to open this window open and address the root causes of discomfort.
Your prescribed home program includes supportive “bricks” in the form of physical therapy TMJ exercises, helping to keep the window open between sessions. This ongoing effort ensures the benefits of manual therapy are maintained and built upon. For lasting jaw pain relief and improved function, it’s essential to lighten the load pressing on the window. This partnership between in-clinic treatment and consistent self-care promotes long-term healing and overall well-being.
